United Methodist Committee On Relief -

U.M.C.O.R. Offering

Sunday, July 13th

Special Offering for the

Midwest Tornado Flooding

A solid strength of the United Methodist Church is our connection to every other United Methodist Church in the United States and around the world. That Strength is never more evident than when problems occur affecting fellow Christians and fellow United Methodists.

It is with this in mind that we will receive a special offering for those victims affected by flooding and tornadoes in the Midwest.

As one commentator said: “The images are heartbreaking.” To see homes being washed away by overflowing rivers and dams, to see homes being lifted off their foundations by tornadoes are pictures that are hard to believe. In one town in Kansas approximately 80% of the town was destroyed, including The First Episcopal United Methodist Church and parsonage. In Iowa, 83 of Iowa’s 99 counties were declared disaster areas as of June 13th.

Our national relief agency, U.M.C.O.R., is working with Midwest United Methodists to spearhead relief efforts. It is important to remember that every dollar given for this relief effort will go directly for local specific needs. No money will be used to defray administrative costs, another strength of our United Methodist Church family.

Let us also continue to lift up in prayer the people so affected by these storms.

“Truly I tell you, just as you did not do it to

one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.”

Matthew 25: 45

God Bless,

Reverend John E. Naile
